THE SUPERYACHT M/V BART ROBERTS
TO RECEIVE
“
REFIT OF THE YEAR “ AWARD IN MONTE CARLO
Palm Beach, Florida USA June 6, 2003, Tradepower International, a Florida corporation,
announced that it’s conversion of the former Canadian Coast Guard Icebreaker “ Narwhal “ to
the Superyacht M/V Bart Roberts has been selected to receive the “Refit
Of the Year” award on June 26th in Monte Carlo, Monaco.
Showboats International Magazine presents the award each year for the most
complex and successful yacht refit. The winner is chosen from a number of
world-wide
refit completions and is one of several prestigious awards given to the yachting
industry. The ”Refit of the Year” award is presented in conjunction
with the Bal de La Mar, which is held at the Hotel de Paris in Monte Carlo
and will be attended by 750 invited guests from all over the world.
The conversion of the M/V Bart Roberts, one of the world’s largest, was
undertaken in Victoria, British Columbia by a skilled team of some 100 workers.
The enormous project was completed in only 60 weeks by means of a well managed,
24-hour, seven day work week schedule.
The Bart Roberts, named after the famous pirate, Bartholomew Roberts is the
largest Exploration charter yacht in the world and at 265 feet, lavishly accommodates
20 guests and 24 crew. The yacht has a range of over 15,000 nautical miles
and carries such toys as a 50 foot high-speed tender, a 38-foot landing craft
that can carry a full size SUV at 40 knots, a 10’ by 20’ heated
fresh water swimming pool with exercise jets and a Jet Ranger helicopter in
a heated and air-conditioned hanger.
The owners Arnie and Carl Gemino and Robert Caulfield will be accepting the
award in Monte Carlo along with Karen Bamford of Victoria, British Columbia,
Tradepower’s interior designer and Lennart Edstrom the company’s
Naval Architect and Project Manager.
The 40 million dollar yacht is now being offered both for sale and under a
shared use program, where fifteen fortunate share owners will enjoy the use
of the yacht while it makes it’s five-year, round-the-world voyage.
The entire refit project, yacht data, as well as magazine articles can be viewed
